LymphoedemaSurgery Centre

Your patient journey

From first enquiry to long-term follow-up, your care is planned as one connected pathway.

The pathway

Six steps, one considered plan.

Your route may vary, but each stage is designed to connect clinical decisions with practical preparation and follow-up.

  1. 01

    Enquiry and records

Contact the centre directly or ask your GP, consultant or lymphoedema therapist to refer you. Clinic letters, imaging, treatment summaries and compression details may be requested.

  2. 02

    Specialist consultation

A consultant considers your diagnosis, symptoms, tissue changes, treatment to date and personal goals. Further investigations may be recommended when the cause is uncertain.

  3. 03

    Therapy and ICG imaging

Where appropriate, specialist therapy colleagues review conservative care and garment needs while ICG lymphography maps superficial lymphatic function.

  4. 04

    MDT recommendation

The team reviews the findings and explains the recommended pathway, likely benefits, limitations, alternatives, risks and recovery.

  5. 05

    Preparation and treatment

You receive a written plan, quotation and procedure-specific information. The setting and anaesthetic are matched to the planned operation.

  6. 06

    Rehabilitation and follow-up

Surgeons and therapists coordinate wounds, activity, compression and outcome monitoring as part of continuing long-term care.

Before your appointment

Useful records make the first conversation clearer.

Bring what you already have; do not delay an enquiry because records are incomplete.

Previous clinic letters, imaging, treatment summaries and details of current compression may help. If the cause of swelling is uncertain, further investigation may be recommended before surgical planning.

Long-term care

Surgery is one part of management.

Follow-up continues beyond wound healing.

Surgeons and therapists coordinate activity, compression and outcome monitoring. Lymphoedema remains a long-term condition, so self-management and specialist review remain important even after a successful procedure.
