LymphoedemaSurgery Centre
Treatments, carefully selected.
The right operation depends on the type and stage of lymphoedema—not simply on the size of the limb.
Our treatments
A pathway, not a single procedure.
Some procedures aim to improve lymphatic drainage. Others reduce established excess fatty tissue.
Assessment considers the cause, stage and distribution of lymphoedema, remaining lymphatic function and the balance between fluid, fat and fibrosis. That shared picture helps the multidisciplinary team decide which approach—or combination of approaches—is most appropriate.
Explore the options
Four distinct approaches.
Each treatment has a different purpose, setting and recovery. Select one to understand where it may fit.
LVA
Lymphaticovenous anastomosis
A minimally invasive supermicrosurgical procedure that connects functioning lymphatic vessels to tiny nearby veins, creating new routes for lymph fluid to drain.
VLNT
Vascularised lymph node transfer
Healthy lymph nodes, together with their blood supply, are transferred to an area where normal lymphatic drainage has been damaged or lost.
Body-Jet
Water-assisted liposuction
A tissue-respectful approach to reducing excess fatty tissue when established lymphoedema no longer responds to compression alone.
BioBridge
BioBridge lymphatic scaffolding
A fine, bioabsorbable collagen scaffold designed to provide a pathway that may support the development of new lymphatic connections.
Combined and staged care
More than one route may be useful.
Some patients benefit from treatment that changes over time.
A physiological procedure may be used to improve drainage before liposuction addresses established fatty enlargement. In other cases, therapy, compression or further observation is the most appropriate next step. Every plan is individualised and may be staged.
Realistic expectations
Improvement, not promises.
Surgery can make lymphoedema easier to manage, but it does not guarantee a cure.
Treatment may improve drainage, reduce swelling or limb volume, lessen infection burden and support mobility or garment fit. Results vary, and most patients continue some form of specialist therapy, compression and long-term self-management.
